How do I know if my loft is suitable for conversion?

Each loft is unique. An initial site visit and consultation will allow us to recommend the most appropriate course of action.

Do I need council permission for my loft conversion?

Planning permission is only required if your permitted development allowance has been exceeded unless you are in a conservation area or your house is listed. Our architecturally trained experts will advise you accordingly. All conversions need to comply with building regulations if the room is for habitable use.

Do Soundhouse do the designs, or just the building?

Soundhouse provide a complete, comprehensive service from your initial enquiry or consultation right through to the completed loft or building project. We prefer to work with you from the outset so that you can get the very best from our knowledge and experience although we can assist on any stage of a project.

Can I see a completed conversion?

Yes. It may be possible to show you a completed conversion or visit a site nearing completion dependent on individual homeowner’s commitments. Alternatively you can view a number of conversions in the Gallery section of this site.

What about planning regulations and building regulations?

Part of the service Soundhouse provides is to guide your project through the entire process to ensure that it achieves planning approval and complies with all statutory building regulations. Over the years Soundhouse has established has established a good working relationship and reputation with Brighton Council’s planning department.

How quickly can work commence?

There is usually a small wait for a Soundhouse project, this is because we manage each job personally rather than subcontracting our work out to third parties.
